School Auction Nets Tin Roof 2 Containers of School Furniture
"Once the people around us heard what we wanted the furniture for, miracles started happening,"
says Charlene Meyer who attended the auction. "Perfect strangers gave us donations. Others bid on furniture and
turned it over to us. The kindness of the people there and their interest in what we are doing in Nicaragua was almost overwhelming."
"Not only that, but after the auction, many individuals, church groups and the Hillsboro residents sorted,
inventoried, labeled items, and actually packed the containers for shipment. In fact, even the containers were donated!"
Among the items sent to Nicaragua:
- 471 chairs
- 171 desks
- 54 chalk boards
- 50 adjustable tables
- 8 cafeteria tables
- 18 file cabinets
- 10 metal book shelves
- teacher desks
- other miscellaneous school room supplies
Tin Roof Foundation extends special thanks to Betty Dodds for making lunches for the many volunteers who packed
the containers. Thanks, too, to Cross International who offset the cost of shipping the two containers to Nicaragua.
And a special note of gratitude to the families who made very generous financial donations so that we can
bring hope through education to the poorest-of-the-poor children in Nicaragua.
